In 2009 I wrote about a 1971 Dodge Challenger R/T that has been found 25 years or so later. Another collectible car has experienced the identical fate, this time a 1969 Camaro. Seems that a girl from New Jersey named named Janice Maffucci had her car stolen in Newark in 1975. Fast forward to February, 2011 and Keith Williams from California bought the automobile off eBay. Due to certain inconsistencies, he considered to contact the California Highway Patrol, which did a VIN search and realized that the vehicle was "hot." So, beneath the law, Janice can get her car back. For Keith, relax a bit as his insurance has him covered.
However, this informative article on Yahoo's news blog just isn't receiving the story right, so it will be really hard to determine what really happened that led to the vehicle's identity. For one thing, it turned out claimed which a Butternut Yellow six-cylinder Camaro was stolen from a lot, nevertheless the VIN (124379) in the video is made for a V-8 car.
Additionally, the car was sold being a Super Sport using a 427. The story makes the implication the CHP was contacted because the car was lacking the first engine, which I'm sure just isn't true since a train locomotive transplant just isn't enough to smell something fishy (nor could it be strange to locate SS badges on the car that's never a Super Sport).
